Young Vegetarian Chef Final 2012
Demuths Vegetarian Restaurant and The Vegetarian Cookery School are delighted to announce the second year of our competition for aspiring young chefs.
The 2012 event is sponsored by appliance brandleader Neff, Rangemaster and Kitchens who will be providing super prizes.
We will be hosting a contest to find the best Young Vegetarian Chef in the country. The competition is open to any young chef who is keen on vegetarian cookery (no need to be vegetarian). The competition will be in two age groups: 11 to 13 and 14 to 16
The Young Chefs will be judged on the following aspects:
- Creating a recipe from seasonal ingredients
- Cooking a favourite vegetarian main course dish
- Knowledge of vegetarian ingredients & kitchen skills
- Flavour, creativity and presentation
The first round of the competition will be to create a menu for a vegetarian main course meal. This stage is part of the application process and the lucky 6 finalists will be asked to come to The Vegetarian Cookery School in Bath for the final round: Preparing your dish at The Vegetarian Cookery School for a panel for judges in a set time and completing our ingredient knowledge test.
Our judging panel will include Rachel Demuth & Richard Buckley Head Chef of Demuths.
