Indulgent Cake Day
For cake lovers who want to build their confidence in making perfect cakes. We will have fun indulging in a day of cake making and eating, so have your sweet tooth ready.
We will cover basic techniques and explain the science behind making your baking a success at home every time. You will learn about the two basic sponge types from which all cakes are made and we will make an example of each. We will be able to help you with tips on what might go wrong providing you with simple information to make your cakes work every time including information on ingredients, creaming and mixing techniques, tins sizes & oven temperatures.
The cakes we make will vary with the seasons, some of our favourites to tempt you include cakes such as chocolate roulade, coconut sachertorte, fancy cup cakes, easy christmas cake, almond & lemon drizzle cake, carrot & walnut cake, Dorset apple cake and German layered cake. You will make cream fillings and icings and have some creative fun learning simple cake decorating skills.
We will provide a light vegetarian lunch during the day and you will get to take home your creations, those that we haven’t eaten straight from the oven. All the recipes we cook from during the day along with our tips for success will be provided for you to take home.
This course is not recommended for those on a strict vegan or gluten free diet.
